You’re invited to Celebrating the Feminine Mystique, a fundraiser for Mahila Partnership, a grassroots organization investing in women and girls! Held on the rooftop at Station House, this event will feature; a curated art show, Tampa Bay local business-sponsored silent auction, delicious food and drinks, live music featuring Geri X, and a forum to raise awareness for the importance of menstrual health and hygiene as a component of gender equality.
We are expecting over 300 people to attend this event which is being sponsored by over 30 local St. Pete businesses, including Station House, who donated their rooftop space in-kind. The event insights say that we’ve reached over 16,000 people with our advertising, and have had more than 1000 engagements in the last 6 weeks. This event will be broadcast throughout the night via Facebook live, we’ll have our own hashtag: #CelebratingtheFeminineMystique, and every dollar raised will be MATCHED by our capital sponsor Wakefield Brunswick.
It's our goal to raise awareness of the ever-present stigma that affects women and girls: That menstruation is dirty, negative, and something to be ignored. This stigma has marginalized women in rural communities just as much as it has women and girls in our own communities. The women in Nepal, in the communities Mahila Partnership sponsors, are effected tremendously. With the earthquake having destroyed their communities this time last year, they are still just beginning to recover, while facing the difficulties of menstrual health and hygiene daily.
Feminine health and hygiene effects not just 50% of the population, but all of it. Without healthy women, girls, mothers, teachers, sisters, aunts, grandmothers - there are no healthy children, students, husbands, communities.
I’m Amelia Bartlett, the organizer of the fundraiser at my direct email: abartlett@mahilapartnership.org or by phone: 727 481 6454.
I’ll be available Friday, May 27th for any questions or an interview about the event between 10 – 4pm, just give me a bit of notice. The more awareness we can bring to this event, the more awareness we can bring to Mahila Partnership!
