My 2021 Theme - Faith | Cultivating optimism and belief in my dreams

My 2021 Theme - Faith | Cultivating optimism and belief in my dreams

Since 2016, I have selected a “theme,” an intentional declaration of what I’d like to cultivate more of in my state of being. In the past, I have chosen Ritual, Consistent, Grace, Authenticity, and Patience. This year, my theme is Faith, and with this I include a quote from Kahlil Gibran (which can be seen on my vision board). This post is about my 10-year journey to reclaiming my dreams, my belief in myself, and ultimately, my faith.

Mental & Physical Wellness During the Coronavirus Pandemic

Mental & Physical Wellness During the Coronavirus Pandemic

I’ll get straight to the point: I’m taking the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic very seriously. I’d love to hear how you are responding to this pandemic in the comments!

Miss Americana: Taylor Swift's New Documentary Tells My Story, Too

Miss Americana: Taylor Swift's New Documentary Tells My Story, Too

Despite what you’ve heard, Taylor Swift & Lana Wilson’s Miss Americana is not a “pop star doc” you should watch for juicy details or any kind of ‘explanation.’ In the 85-minute Netflix-hosted documentary, Swift tells her story in her own words and her own voice through the lens of growing up with her career. Like millions of fans who have grown up with Taylor Swift, the documentary struck a chord with my personal experience, too: Pursuing dreams with reckless abandon, wanting to be seen as a ‘good girl,’ bearing the weight of expectations on women’s bodies and behaviors, sexual assault, and coming of age in a derisive political era.

In Miss Americana, Taylor Swift not only tells her story, she tells mine too.

Content Warning: Sexual assault and discussion of an eating disorder.

Wildflower Walk in East Tennessee | Spring / Summer
